iPad Air 2 benchmark points to triple-core 1.5 GHz CPU, 2 GB RAM

Eric Slivka reporting for MacRumors:

If the result is genuine, and Primate Labs founder John Poole tells MacRumors that it appears to be, it reveals that the A8X contains an unusual triple-core CPU configuration running at 1.5 GHz and paired with 2 GB of RAM.

I hope this is correct. The current iPad Air has the A7 1.4 GHz dual-core paired with 1 GB of RAM.

Update: With the review embargoes lifted, others have run benchmarks that report a triple-core (see John Gruber's humorous exchange with Apple on the matter). Therefore, triple-core is all but officially confirmed. As for the RAM, iFixit's teardown confirms 2 GB.
