How Apple's HyperCard inspired a generation of future developers

Over on Macworld, Christopher Phin takes a look at HyperCard and its role in inspiring many to get into programming:

When we asked on Twitter what your memories of HyperCard were and why you thought it was important, one of the most common replies we got was from app-makers today who said that they might never have become developers in the first place if it wasn’t for HyperCard.

I'm reminded of this interview in which Steve Jobs tells a skeptical Walt Mossberg that, in its day, HyperCard was bigger than Flash (2:30 minute mark, but all 5 minutes worth watching):
