Tech blogs have being running stories this morning about Applebot, a web crawler Apple uses to fuel Siri and Spotlight suggestions. Headlines include:

- Apple confirms existence of Applebot web crawler
- Apple confirms ‘Applebot’ web crawler is indexing the web
However, the Apple support document that sparked these stories was actually published in February:
An update to this document is what set off this morning's stories (although I'm not sure what updates were made to the document). Regardless, it is interesting and will certainly set off speculation that Apple is builiding its own search engine to compete with the likes of Google.
Side Note: It seems that Apple has been on a tear lately updating support documents, but many appear to be nothing more than very minor updates.
