I went over to the Apple Store to pick up an iPhone (actually two 8 GB models - one for me and one for my wife). I had never waited in line for a gadget before, but it was kind of fun. Everyone was in a good mood, and we passed the hours by talking Apple stuff.
At home, I found the packaging impressive - a step up even for Apple (and rightfully so given I spent $1,200!). I plugged the iPhones into our Macs to activate them with AT&T. Not impressive. Man, it took hours upon hours. But eventually they were activated, and I was able to easily sync over contacts, calendars, music and more to the spacious 8 GB of storage. Up and running!
Since then, I find myself consistently using the thing (now I know what Steve Jobs meant by “Internet communicator”). I literally never leave my house without it. I’ve used a lot of gadgets in my life, but I can honestly say that the iPhone has changed my life.
And I see a lot of other people using them too. I think this thing might catch on.
